The hotel is located in Joinville Saint-Denis on the island of Reunion, in the district coastal Barachois.
Originally, this is a hotel dedicated to welcome travelers, built of wood in 1780 by Bernard Labadie. Several owners succeed and then in 1832, the building is called "Joinville hotel" by members of the Franks-Hoop, consists of landowners who have asked the governor to create a Colonial Council. The name of Joinville was chosen in honor of King Louis Philippe, whose third son bears the title of Prince de Joinville.
