- Its location:
- Saint-Crépin-aux-Bois is located in the forest of Laigue in the canton of Attichy, about 15 km east of Compiègne, in the department Its inhabitants numbered 252 at the 2009 census.
- The central geodetic point is at the location of the church, it includes the level indication: 63 meters above sea level.
- Historical background:
- The village once depended on the rich lordship of Offémont and came under the county of Senlis. In 1029, Offémont was given to Guy de Beauvoir; Bailiff of Senlis. It was first a hunting house belonging to the royal tax authorities.
- Girard d'Auchy built a fortified castle which became the home of the lords.
- Marguerite, daughter of 'Ansoud de Thourotte, brought the land of Offémont around 1296, to Guy de Clérmont-Nesle, Marshal of France.
- Jean II de Nesle, son of Guy III de Nesle, had the Château d'Offémont rebuilt and surrounded it with fortifications.
- The seigneury of Offémont remained in the house of Nesle until Jean IV who died leaving his wife Marguerite de Chimay only a daughter, Louise; she sold the land of Offémont, in 1524, to François de Montmorency, governor of the Île de France.
- François Dreux d ' Aubray, adviser to the Parliament of Paris, buys the lordship of Offémont. His daughter Marie-Madeleine brought this seigneury to the Marquis de Brinvilliers, whom she married in 1651.
- The seigneury of Offémont later belonged to Adrien Nicolas, Marquis de la Salle, who sold it in 1792 to a Paris banker, Nouet. The latter resold it to M. Cornuau.
- In the 19th century, the castle was almost completely restored by the wealthy banker Aguado. Today it belongs to Mr. Pillet-Will.
- Near the castle, rise the ruins of the former priory of Sainte-Croix-d'Offémont. It was founded by Jean de Nesle in 1331, with four celestials from Saint-Pierre-en-Chastres. It was richly endowed and the lords of Offémont reserved their burial there.
- The church (listed as a Historic Monument) parish, under the name of Saint-Crépin and Saint-Crépinien, is a vast and beautiful 16th century construction, in stone apparatus.
- The municipality has received the 1914/18 war cross.
