Castle of Baville

Monument in Saint-Chéron

Louis XIII style castle located in the town of Saint-Chéron, in Essonne, the castle of Baville today benefits from an inscription in the Historic Monuments. Built in the 17th century by the architect Michel Villedo, it passed from hand to hand over the centuries, notably becoming a boarding school for the Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague high school during the Second World War.

Consisting of a main house with two floors with several bodies on the same alignment, the Château de Baville notably reveals a pediment on its facade. Flanked by two side wings terminated by projecting pavilions, it is entirely chained in white stone, red brick facings and blue slate roof. It presents a typical architecture of the first half of the 17th century.
