The church is listed since 1979 and partially inside with decor is classified since 1983.
Built by Melchior Mitte Chevrières, Lord of Saint-Chamond, an extension of the St. Barbara Chapel, St. Peter's church was dedicated May 3, 1609.
The front bears the crest of Melchior and an inscription celebrating its construction. The bell tower, begun in 1617 and completed in 1645, is covered with copper plates that give it a very special appearance.
Inside, you have to admire the remarkable coffered ceiling. The floor consists of old tombstones has beautiful epigraphic engravings.
The nave is 31 m by 14 m and can accommodate 1000 worshipers unhindered. In addition, an inclination of the pavement (35 cm drop) allows further away to join in the liturgy.
The choir is illustrated with sumptuous woodwork and five tables embedded in the woodwork.
Many chapels surround the nave which one called the Holy Relics, from the Cathedral Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Note the Chapel of Our Lady of All-Power, always the center of a real devotion.
The organ deserves special interest work Callinet (1834), a historical furniture.
