Commune of the Pyrenees, Saint-Aventin is a charming village of Haute-Garonne located in Occitania region. Populated by a hundred inhabitants, it takes its place in the Comminges, and extends as far as the Spanish frontier.
According to legend, Saint-Aventin was created at the very site of the tomb of St. Aventinus. The latter, a hermit of the eighth century would have been decapitated by the Saracens, would have picked up his head and would have walked to the exact location of the village. For several centuries, the place was the site of a major pilgrimage respected in June.
In addition to hosting a major ski resort in the Pyrenees, which is popular with sports enthusiasts and mountain enthusiasts, the commune of Saint-Aventin also unveils a charming architectural heritage that reflects the style present all over the area.
