Things to see and do

In terms of heritage, the village has preserved some heritage elements of interest.

A discovery circuit can thus start with the remains of the medieval walls, the pavilion said Louis XI, many old houses of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries often built based pebbles (a typical local technical). The hall-town hall nineteenth also comes under this principle.

We will not forget the old baronial castle and its keep Loivres fourteenth dauphinoise which was a possession (when the Dauphiné had its capital in Vienna). Protected as historical monuments, the site is now the center of a farm.

Crossed by a main road where still leave some cobbled streets (alleys coating composed of pebbles), Boyron also has a parish church dedicated to St. John the Baptist style Romanesque, rebuilt in the nineteenth century, where the rollers alternate with bricks. The pulpit and a tabernacle housed in the building are worth a glance.

The old station and its ancillary buildings, witnesses of a fleeting railway line leading to Lyon complement this character set.

Not to mention a last curiosity, the pride of the resort: a replica cast of the statue of Liberty erected in 1906 in honor of Henry St. Romme figure of the Second Republic in the department, whose son Mathias was a friend of Auguste Bartholdi. The artist presented him this high statue of three meters. A bas-relief bronze was added at the pedestal representing Henry St. Romme.

Ultimate historic place but away from the village this time, the Abbey of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chambaran. Built in 1868, founded by the Reformed Cistercian (Trappist), it was once abandoned after the 1905 law and again occupied from 1931 by religious (Trappist). The places (built in a Romanesque Revival style) are open to the public during services or for spiritual retreats. Information at +33 4 76 36 22 68.

Culturally, noted that animations are regularly offered by the town library (exhibitions, lectures, meetings). Information +33 4 76 36 52 04.

Place then the potential for "nature" of leisure activities related to the environment of the locality. Here one thinks of the forest of Chambaran, which covers 7300 hectares, part of which is classified "nature park". There is a very rich flora and fauna, and ponds that add a picturesque note.

In addition to these natural assets, to a few hundred meters south of the village, a long artificial lake 400 m wide and 100 m was arranged following the completion of a dam-shaped dam on the River Aquamarine Black. A footpath allows to go around.

Lake Roybon is also suitable for swimming in summer (not monitored though) and playgrounds and picnic areas are available. The leisure thus formed is also prized by anglers (regulatory information +33 4 76 36 22 65).

The site may finally be the starting point for many hiking trails obviously including incursions in the rich Chambaran forest and ponds. Maps and information +33 4 76 36 25 86 or +33 4 74 20 61 43.
