Located in the heart of Rouen, in the pavilion of the Hôtel-Dieu in which the famous writer was born, the Flaubert and History of Medicine museum unveils to visitors memories of the Flaubert family, as well as the entire history of medicine from the Middle Ages until the beginning of the 20th century.
It is possible to discover eleven permanent collection rooms, including a cabinet of curiosities, a dental office, an apothecary, which present objects as unusual as six-seater beds, a leech perch or a 18th century birthing mannequin.
Labeled Musée de France, Maison des Illustres and listed as a Historic Monument, the site also has very fine collections of ceramics, literature and old books.
