The only spa on the French Riviera, Roquebillière takes place at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park in the Vesubian Country. The town is located 600 meters above sea level, about fifty kilometers from Nice and its famous Promenade des Anglais.
Very old, the village of Roquebillière has experienced many catastrophes including earthquakes in the sixth and seventh century, and regular floods. Despite this, it has been rebuilt many times in the same place by locals. In 1926, however, a large landslide caused the exodus of many people and the town shifted somewhat from its original location.
Mainly rural, the municipality of Roquebillière sees its economy based on the thermal spa of Berthemont-les-Bains, as well as on its important tourist activity.
