Rochegude is the southernmost town in the west of the beautiful Drôme Provençale, 10 km east of the Rhone, "sharp rock" for some "rock cut" for others, it is by its geographical location, the gateway to the mountains and wooded Uchaux an essential input on the wine Côtes du Rhône. The vineyard is part of Rochegude club of 17 towns "Appellation Village", it is known and recognized since Roman times, as evidenced by a statue of Bacchus display at the museum of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
The heart of the village within the walls sees houses rushing around the church remodeled in 1772 across a Romanesque chapel, and in 1879 adopted its new tower. It is connected to a magnificent castle with a tower of the 12th century, its present appearance dates back to before the Great War. These buildings dominate a beautiful landscape with a backdrop of the Alps, Mont Ventoux and lace Montmirail ... A trip of a hundred miles and you're at the beach or in the mountains!
Rochegude has two Romanesque chapels and a fountain, buildings listed in France. On the hill, the dome of an ancient windmill is topped with a statue of the Virgin, a replica of Our Lady of Fourvière (Lyon).
Rochegude en Provence is a living village. People come here for its jazz, theater, the flea, its various festivals, the foot race of the rough rock, its rally scrubland biking, its golf cycling (Drôme cycling). It is also crossed by a riding course and GR4 can be reached in 1.5 km.
