Labeled Museum of France, the museum of Auvergne of Riom, in the Puy-de-Dôme, takes place in the heart of a former private mansion of the XVIIIth century. On site, visitors can discover a collection of more than 4,000 objects and testimonies retracing the history of rural Auvergne in the 19th century, as well as that of its inhabitants.
Inaugurated in 1969, the Musée d'Auvergne presents a stripped-down museography in order to showcase the collections. In reconstituted interior decorations, the various rooms reveal in particular objects of agricultural life, crafts or even everyday life and traditional festivals. The site has an incredible collection of costumes and jewelry from all over Auvergne.
