Things to see and do

It is his church dedicated to Saint Christopher that is the heritage jewel of Rians. The building dates from the twelfth century: from this period, was preserved the nave of Romanesque style. The choir, which has a Gothic aspect, was rebuilt in the 14th century. Subsequently, the frame was resumed in the sixteenth, the bell tower added to the eighteenth and finally, the arrow of the latter remodeled in the twentieth.

Inside, there is a beautiful series of stained glass windows of the nineteenth century, sculpted statues or groups of the sixteenth and seventeenth, including a Madonna and Child and a representation of St. Christopher, but also a 16th century holy water font.

Then place to recreation and sports "nature". To the north-west of the village, the pond Poiret was built in the 1980s on a site known for its sources and had been used as a sand quarry. Covering an area of almost 2 hectares, it is bordered by hedges, poplars, birches and lawns. A petanque court and a picnic area are available for families. The site lends itself to idleness but swimming is forbidden. The fishing, on the other hand, is authorized from April to October (information in town hall at +33 2 48 64 42 08).

The pond can be the starting point for a pleasant hike. No less than five trails have been marked and marked on the territory of the municipality, lined with elements of small heritage, protected areas in terms of flora or fauna (birds), forest plots (such as juniper wood).

A loop of some 17 km is also dedicated to mountain bikers. It is also possible to consider a hike of greater magnitude along the route of the old Roman road. Maps and information on +33 2 48 48 00 10 or +33 2 48 64 42 08.
