Rémalard-en-Perche is a village in the department of Orne, in Normandy, equidistant about 60 km from Alençon, in the west, and Chartres, in the east.
In the heart of the Perche natural region, whose woods and valleys form a transition between the Armorican massif and the Paris basin, the village is located in the heart of the Perche Regional Nature Park, which includes 97 communes (54 in the Orne and 43 in Eure-et-Loir).
Rémalard-en-Perche was officially created on 1 January 2016 by the merger of three municipalities: Rémalard (1,200 inhabitants), Bellou-sur-Huisne (430 inhabitants) and Dorceau (390 inhabitants).
While the activity remains mainly agricultural (livestock, fruit-growing), tourism has developed in the region whose natural heritage is preserved and which is rich in an architectural heritage first military (in the eleventh century, William the Conqueror Made the siege of Rémalard and ordered the construction of defensive blocks) then residential.
In Bellou-sur-Huisne, in terms of built heritage, the visitor can notice a sundial on the church, decorated with the motto "This hour is yours" (in Latin).
Dating from the 12th century, this Romanesque church was enlarged during the Renaissance, but above all there are 82 modillions (sculpted supports) under the outer cornice.
But it will also linger at the cave of the Mansonnière, classified "sensitive natural space". It is an underground quarry of white stone that was exploited from the seventeenth to the beginning of the twentieth century, before being transformed into a guinguette then mushroom house and which is now a refuge for protected bats. Guided tours in September, information on +33 2 33 25 70 10.
In Dorceau, inside the church are interesting interesting murals.
At Rémalard, the church of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre dates from the 12th century and has tower-towers, a portal and a remarkable porch. His Damien organ of 1859 is classified and is in perfect condition. A local association organizes numerous concerts throughout the year. Information on +33 2 33 73 71 94.
Finally, in Rémalard, you can still see the vestiges of the castrale motte (old fortification) on the hill of the Chatelier (11th century), beautiful old houses in the old town, manor houses on the outskirts or the castle of Voré The property of the philosopher Helvetius (18th century).
Guided tours or plans to discover the built heritage are available on +33 2 33 73 71 94.
Lovers of gardens will be delighted to visit the gardens of Petite Rochelle, Rémalard (many species, French garden and English garden). Finally, there are many art galleries on the whole municipality.
For sports enthusiasts, there are many paths and trails to be covered on foot, by bike, on horseback or by canoe, with varying degrees of difficulty. These included the greenway on the old railway line linking Alençon to Condé-sur-Huisne. Information (on the different paths and paths as for the hire of mountain bike) to +33 2 33 73 71 94.
For gourmets and gourmands wanting to better understand the specialties of the local terroir, a market is held every Monday from 8 am to 1 pm at Rémalard.
But in this respect, the annual highlight is scheduled every last weekend of October with the autumn fair where crafts and local products are honored, including apple (pressing, distilling, Cakes, etc.). Fun fair and various animations complete the program.
The last weekend of June, the Jeunesse Tous Courts festival is now taking place in Rémalard, dedicated to short films on the theme of youth.
Also for moviegoers, the second Friday of each month, the cinema club of Rémalard proposes a projection (information on +33 2 33 73 71 94).
