Built in the 13th century in a district of Reims once inhabited by wealthy merchants, the Hôtel le Vergeur museum owes its name to Nicolas Le Vergeur, its owner in the 16th century. It was the latter who gave it the characteristics of a private mansion with elegant Renaissance interior facades arranged around a courtyard.
Property of Hugues Krafft in the first half of the 20th century, it now houses a museum displaying objects, clothing and other photographic plates brought back by the great man from his travels around the world.
In addition, there are rich collections of furniture and works of art which allow visitors to the Hôtel le Vergeur museum to discover a bourgeois interior from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century. The site now benefits from the Maison des Illustres label.
