Rasteau is a village of Haut Vaucluse winegrowers perched 200 meters on a hill between plains and forests.
Its houses spread out at the foot of a beautiful 12th century Romanesque church and the ruins of a 12th century castle overlook the village.
- Rasteau, the square:
- The huge shaded square, which is the heart of the village, is a must. It is here that everyone meets, that everything is known and everything is said.
- The shops surround it as well as the village school, the town hall and the post office. From this square, via a cobbled street, you will reach the fortified enclosure dating from the Middle Ages.
- Rasteau, tower and bell tower:
- On this height of the village, the houses will look more and more like a landscape of a Provençal nativity scene, with its small doors and windows in shimmering colours.
- For the bravest, the ascent can extend to the former 12th century episcopal residence which adjoins the church at the very top of the village.
- Rasteau, Côtes du Rhône vineyard landscape:
- There, you can catch your breath while appreciating the panoramic view that awaits you.
- You will discover the hill and its superb landscapes through the marked footpaths on the territory of Rasteau, you can also follow the GR4 which leads to its neighboring villages Roaix or Cairanne.
- Rasteau, cooperative cellar:
- Above all, don't leave Rasteau without stopping, at the exit of the village at the beautiful cooperative cellar which offers the excellent Côtes du Rhône wine produced here. Winegrowers have had the appellation for more than half a century!
- You can also visit the museum of vine work which brings together tools, instruments, photos and documents to explain to you this traditional passion for the vine and the know-how of good wine!
