Chief town of Canton in the Doubs, Quingey takes place about twenty kilometers from Besançon, on the banks of the Loue, one of the most beautiful rivers in France. The small village is located on the Roman road leading to Strasbourg via Salins, not far from Lombard, Paroy or Chouzelot.

Common since the third century, Quingey knows its first mayor from the early seventeenth century. Originally, the city had many wooden houses which earned him three destructions by fire in its history. Having always had great administrative and economic importance in the region, it has developed over the centuries, gradually taking the face that we know today.

Labeled City of character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, the city of Quingey continues to attract tourists passing for the charm of its architecture as for its friendly and authentic atmosphere.

Listed as a Historical Monument, the Count's Castle was built in the 13th century and modified in the 15th century. It remains today the famous tower Calixte II of this building which was born Guy de Bourgogne in 1050, who became pope thereafter between 1119 and 1124.

While strolling in the village, you will also be able to admire the chapel of the brotherhood of the Cross of the XVIIe century, the Saint-Martin church of the XVIIIe, or the old houses with their tower with lauzes roofs.

The bridge that spans the Loue dates from the late sixteenth century, it was completely rebuilt slightly upstream in 1844 and is still visible.

Lovers of beautiful landscapes and outdoor activities will be seduced by the banks of the Loue. The village is also the starting point for mountain bike trails, canoeing and hiking trails of great charm.
