New municipality of Normandy, Bricquebec-en-Cotentin was born on January 1, 2016 from the merger of Bricquebec, Perques, Quettetot, Saint-Martin-le-Hébert, La Valdécie, and Le Vrétot. It takes place in the heart of the Channel, near Brix, Sortosville-en-Beaumont and Negreville.
The so-called Dungeon City was born with the arrival of the Vikings on the territory more than 1000 years ago. Its name comes from Brekka, the slope of the plateau overlooking the Bekkr, the stream. Stronghold in the Middle Ages, Bricquebec-en-Cotentin was created by Anslech, a close friend of the Duke of Normandy, William Long Sword.
Rich in history, the city of Normandy attracts with its impressive architectural heritage testifying to its importance over the centuries.
Cistercian, the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce abbey was founded in the nineteenth century by Father Bon Onfroy. Still occupied by trappist monks, it welcomes people wishing to make a religious retreat, and also offers a large selection of charcuterie produced on site through a pig farm.
The town has an important religious heritage to discover the time of a walk in the surroundings like the chapel Sainte-Anne, the church Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation, the remains of the Notre-Dame church with its sculpted decorations of the 12th century, the Saint-Paul des Perques church and its 15th century bas-relief, the Notre-Dame de Valdécie church and its Madonna and Child of the 15th century. century listed historical monument, the Church of Our Lady of Quettetot, the Church of St. Martin of the nineteenth century or the Church of Our Lady of the Angels of the nineteenth century with its altarpiece and carved group of 15th century listed as Historical Monuments.
Built in the 12th century, Bricquebec Castle is one of the best preserved in the region. It still unveils today ramparts, towers, as well as a polygonal keep classified to the Historical Monuments. It is possible to visit the Clock Tower a small regional museum, while in the courtyard you can admire a memory pyramid made of sand Utah Beach and incorporating 2000 objects of the twentieth century to be discovered during erosion.
Listed as a historic monument, the castle Galleries dates from the sixteenth century. It reveals in particular a very beautiful horseshoe staircase and a loggia.
Do not miss out on the 17th-century Château Saint-Blaise, the 14th-century Houlette Manor, or the Court Manor. Classified as an historic monument, the latter was built in the 16th century.

- To mark the "Pierres en Lumières" event, the Pays d'art et d'histoire will be hosting an exceptional concert by the Ars Nova ensemble on May 18, starting at 5pm in the church of Saint-Martin-le-Hébert (Bricquebec-en-Cotentin). In association with their English friends from the "Courtlye Musick" group, the Ars Nova musicians will be commemorating the 550th anniversary of the deaths of the composers Guillaume Dufay (France) and Walter Frye (England), both of whom died in 1474. It will be an opportunity to illustrate the development of harmonies previously considered dissonant on the continent : the third, the sixth and the shifted keys. This development marks the musical transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
