Since January 1, 2016, the municipality of Semerville is part of the new municipality of Beauce la Romaine which brings together the old communes of Semerville and La Colombe (with the postal code 41160) and those of Verdes, Prénouvellon, Membrolles, Tripleville and Ouzouer-le- Market (with the zip code 41240). The latter is the one called Beauce la Romaine (the other communes being "associated municipalities"), and the associated town of Semerville is located about ten kilometers taking the D157 towards Le Mans via Binas and some 5 km later, you arrive at the crossroads of the D157 and the D50 at the height of the municipality of La Colombe with a large silo. This is where you have to turn right towards Semerville / Verdes and after 1.6 km, you arrive at Villecellier (hamlet of the joint town of Semerville).
These communes have a historical link with the Romans. For example, there is the Roman road or path of Chartres which connects in particular the towns of Verdes and Semerville (more precisely the hamlet of Villecellier) via Vendôme where still pass pilgrims of Compostela.
On this land of Beauce, there used to be windmills (which are now replaced by wind turbines including one on Semerville) and they grow pulses (lentils), potatoes and cereals. In the 19th century, there were even vineyards and a cellar in Villecellier (notarial act of the late nineteenth).
