Municipality of Landes, in New Aquitaine, Pouillon takes place about fifteen kilometers from Dax and seventy kilometers from Mont-de-Marsan. It is also located near Misson, Estibeaux and Labatut.
Former Gallo-Roman village which served as an entrenched camp, the commune of Pouillon took place at the time on either side of the Roman road which linked Bordeaux to Pamplona, Spain. Populated since the Paleolithic, as evidenced by the cut stones found on site, the territory of Pouillon subsequently experienced English occupation until the mid-15th century before regaining the kingdom of France.
Today, Pouillon still attracts visitors thanks to its proximity to some of the most beautiful towns in the South West, and the richness of its architecture typical of the region.
