Charmante commune of Occitanie, Portiragnes is located in the department of Hérault, not far from the town of Béziers. It is divided into two distinct territories, Portiragnes-Village and Portiragnes-Beach, the seaside resort of the city. Bordered by the Canal du Midi, it is located between the hills and the vineyards.
The territory of Portiragnes has been occupied for a long time, as evidenced by the presence of vestiges of the Neolithic near Roque-Haute. However, it was not until the 19th century that this ancient village developed, revealing charming old alleys, as well as residences prior to the French Revolution.
Very touristy, this small town in the south of France is today a site appreciated for its architecture, its traditions, as well as for its beautiful beaches which overlook the Mediterranean Sea. The proximity with the airport of Béziers and the Cap-d'Agde gives it an ideal location to discover the most beautiful sites of the region.
