Pont de Roide - Vermondans, capital of the canton, is located at the confluence of the Doubs, Ranceuse and Roide rivers. In the heart of the Pays du Lomont, 17 km from Montbéliard, it rests on the high cliffs of the Rocks to the east and opens onto the plain to the north.

The town hall and its park, a mansion bequeathed by the Peugeot family to the town, give the town a special character. Everyone, in this green setting, will find something to satisfy their most diverse tastes. For athletes: canoeing, climbing, hiking, mountain biking... For others, fishing, swimming or cultural visits. The Roches site: The Roches site is a must-see in Pont-de-Roide. It offers both a panorama of the Doubs valley (orientation table), a visit to a historic building, the possibility of climbing, hiking and mountain biking.
The nature reserve: This reserve has 8 varieties of protected plants (rock iberide, Alpine erine, Alpine daphanea, Grenoble carnation, etc.), planted on lawns on the edge of cliffs over an area of 62 Ha.
Observation of bird migrations: The Roches site is an interesting sector for observing the postnuptial migratory flow.
The Battery of Roches: Built between 1877 and 1879 on the heights of Pont-de-Roide, the battery of Roches and its annexes were one of the key pieces of the defensive pier of Lomont. A leaflet on the history of the battery is available at the Tourist Office.
Climbing: This site was one of the very first in Franche-Comté. It has a hundred routes in a limestone rock from level 3 to level 8 A. The cliffs, largely exposed to the south, never stay wet for very long. This part of the Roches site is classified as a voluntary nature reserve, which implies respect for the site and in particular for the species protected on the point of the cliffs. In the city center, a school cliff has been built with ten routes (from 3 to 6 A). Topo available at the MJC / Tourist Office.
Hiking: The trails integrated into the GTJ (Grande Traversée du Jura) and the GR 5 run on the cliffs and in the valleys of the Massif du Lomont. Departing from Pont-de-Roide, they will take you through pine forests interspersed with deciduous trees, pastures and will make you discover rivers, gushing sources, peaks streaming with beautiful waterfalls. These trails, suitable for families, are organized in loops of 8 km (2 and a half hours) to 24 km (6 hours) from the Maison Pour Tous. Possibility of accompanied hiking. You can also take these circuits by mountain bike.
Canoeing and kayaking: Sessions of discovery, improvement and river descent (Saint-Hippolyte - Dampjoux course) in calm water and white water on the Doubs are offered by the canoe-kayak club. Possibility to rent a kayak or canoe for the day or half a day.
The beach: Located in a bend of the Doubs at the entrance to Pont-de-Roide, the beach offers various services in July and August: relaxation area, small bath, safety perimeter, lifeguards, catering fast and alcohol-free bar. Every Wednesday afternoon: sports activities (volleyball, free foot, etc.). Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: canoe kayak rental.
Discover, cautiously, the rock shelters of Rochedane. Site difficult to find.

Art in May:

The successful rehabilitation of the "Halles" offers the cultural life of Pont-de-Roide a place of exhibition entirely exceptional. For 3 weeks in May, it serves as a setting for Art en Mai. By welcoming visitors there, the organizers of this event wish to transmit artistic values and make known those who enrich our existence thanks to their imagination and their talents. Constantly evolving, Art en Mai offers visitors the chance to discover new creations every year. Remarkable sites:

Along the villages you cross, you will discover magnificent chapels. The heritage also includes fountains, beautiful bell towers and a castle…
Belvoir castle: Belvoir castle was built at the start of the Middle Ages on the site of a Gallic oppidum. Seat of a barony, it was the property of the families of Belvoir, Vergy, Cusance, Lorraine and Rohan, the last chatelaine being the Princess of Marsan, governess of the children of France. The visit allows you to admire the different buildings, the chapel, the furniture and the collections.
The halls of Belvoir (14th century): The oldest wooden halls in Franche-Comté are located in the center of the village of Belvoir. Once the theater of great cattle fairs, they are still today the setting for major village festivals.
The Sainte-Anne chapel (15th century) in Belvoir: A ten-minute walk from the castle, this charming little chapel overlooks the entire Sancey valley and the village of Rahon. Also benefit from a very detailed orientation table, with a view of the Alps in summer.
The birthplace and the Sainte-Jeanne-Antide basilica in Sancey-le-Long: To visit the basilica and the birthplace of Sainte Jeanne-Antide Thouret is to meet a woman with a unique destiny who founded the order of the Sisters of Charity. Born in 1765 in Sancey-le-Long, she was declared blessed by Pope XI in 1926, 100 years after her death.
The church of Terres-de-Chaux: The church of Saint-Léger, erected in the 12th century has kept vestiges of Romanesque architecture. The building with the lava roof (flat stones) has a stone pulpit, stately chapels, a magnificent altarpiece... Frescoes dating from the 15th century line the triumphal arch, the vaults and the walls of the choir.

Places of memory:

Two commemorative monuments, one located on the highest point of the town of Pierrefontaine-lès-Blamont, pays tribute to the resistance fighters of the Lomont maquis. The other located on Ecot pays tribute to the shadow fighters of Franche-Comté and more particularly to the Ecot maquis.
A panel relating the Battle of Trembles in November 1944 is also visible in Villars-lès-Blamont.

Natural places:

The Doue site in Abbévillers: The Doue mill which dates from the Middle Ages and its paddle wheel are located in the heart of a property where the "La Doue" stream which forms with "La Creuse", the "Le Gland" river. This unique source in the Montbéliard region springs from a cave at the foot of a rocky outcrop; it constitutes with the waterfall which succeeds it a magnificent site.
The Lomont West wind farm: The 15 wind turbines were installed on the ridges of the Lomont massif in 2007. The size of the site, in line with its privileged location, makes it one of the largest parks in the North East of France, and contributes significantly to the production of electricity from renewable energy. With 15 wind turbines of 2 megawatts (MW) each, the park develops 30 MW at full power. Global production, around 61 million kilowatt-hours, covers the domestic electricity needs of 25,000 people, almost as much as the population of the Pays du Lomont. Museums:

La Maison fleurie in Sancey-le-Long: Two lovers of stones, flowers and bees show you around an old house that they have transformed into a little paradise on land… Stroll through this unusual garden of 6,000 plants housing nearly 120 varieties and enjoy the bee nectar, available on site.
The crazy history of tinplate in Orve: The crazy history of tinplate is "a place of nostalgia" from 1820 to today. Jacques Monnot welcomes you to his barn transformed into a museum to share with you his passion for metal boxes. Ten years of china were necessary for him to collect 3,600 tin cans from all eras.
The Roger Comte museum in Hérimoncourt: This very special museum was designed by the painter Roger Comte (1913-2006). Let yourself be carried away in its dreams, its anxieties, its follies, its truths…
The Musée de la Pince in Montécheroux: Two centuries ago, craftsmen specializing in watchmaking chose to devote themselves to manufacture of pliers for all trades (watchmaking, jewelry, electricity, shoemaking and even dentistry). Today the museum has an impressive collection of these tools and a working smithy.

Hiking and mountain biking:

Crossed by 2 major routes (the legendary GTJ and the GR du Pays de Montbéliard), the Pays du Lomont totals around 350 km of marked short hike routes. These circuits are generally looped and, for the majority, passable in family. You can also practice them by mountain bike.
MTB circuit: Ecot plateau (39 km): In the beautiful natural setting of the Ecot plateau, this circuit passes through fields and forests and the paths of Memory and Peace.

Horse riding: Horse farm in Crosey-le-Petit (ponies or horses). Hiking from half a day to several days.
