The town is backed by the foothills of the Aubrac, on the southern slope of the upper valley of the Lot, between the towns of Saint-Laurent and Saint-Geniez Olt, Olt.
It has an area of 2340 hectares (triangle), its altitude varies from 433 meters to the hamlet of La Tourre to 1180 meters "Puech of Merle."
Its northeastern boundary touches the department of Lozère with common Trélans, it follows the old jackstay (the old path of transhumance in Languedoc now GR 60) was once used by pilgrims of Saint-Jacques-de- Compostela in winter to link to Le Puy Conques bypassing the signal Mailhebiau the south through St. Germain du Teil and Saint-Pierre-de-Nogaret.
South-east of the ravine to drop Puech Grond (Puèg Large) serves as the boundary with the municipality of Saint-Laurent-Olt.
To the south, flowing down from the Lot which Saint-Laurent-Olt, it separates the town with that of La Capelle-Bonance.
The river forms the border between two very different natural regions: the mountains of Aubrac to the north, the high plateaux to the south.
South-west, the road on the right bank of the creek Bonance (Canta said Serp) is contiguous to the town of St.-Geniez d'Olt.
In the northwest the town is separated from that of Aurelle-Verlac by a line which passes under the hamlets of Gineste, the Molière and Fraissinède.
Pomayrols has its geographical position the climate mild and temperate. The mountains dominate the north are sheltered from cold winds. However inequality very pronounced topography, slope orientation, give the temperature a degree of variety. The air is warm in the valleys and on the southern slopes. The removal of all industries and roads frequented it provides excellent air quality.
