Stunning medieval residence, with battlements and unique defensive system, Polignac fortress stands on a dyke which serves as a pedestal. It is the birthplace of the illustrious house of Polignac whose turbulent history mingled with that of Velay and France since the Middle Ages.
On this rock Polignac is grafted from the Renaissance many myths and legends, whose content continues to generate, from the fifteenth century, violent polemics.
