Town Yvelines region Île-de-France, Poissy takes place twenty-five kilometers from Versailles and its castle and thirty kilometers from Paris and its many popular monuments of tourists worldwide. It is located on the banks of the Seine, on the edge of the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, near Maisons-Laffitte, Andrésy and Le Port-Marly.
Inhabited since prehistoric times, the territory of Poissy is a small village of farmers and Gallo-Roman fishermen that developed in the Middle Ages. Royal residence in the fifth century, the town saw the birth of several kings of France over the centuries. It marked the country's history through the years, including in 1561 welcoming the meeting sounded the beginning of the religious wars. In the twentieth century Poissy is renowned for its car industry large-scale, thanks to PSA plants.

Rare Ile witness the transition between Romanesque and Gothic, the Notre-Dame was built in the twelfth century. Listed building, it is characterized by its two towers octagonal. Outside this building renovated including by Viollet-le-Duc, it is possible to admire an incredible bestiary gargoyles above the porch of the fifteenth century, and beautiful putti. From the ancient abbey of Dominican, remains today only one remains, the gatehouse of the priory. Founded in the thirteenth and destroyed in the eighteenth century, it now houses the incredible collections of Poissy Toy Museum.
Walking through the city rich in history, you can also admire the flag of the nineteenth century Granting that now houses the tourist office, home central Poissy in a former Ursuline convent of the seventeenth century, the Cloth Hall calves of the nineteenth century or the various castles and manors Villiers, La Coudraie or Bethemont.
In the old center, there also remain some remains of an ancient wall built enclosure under Philip Augustus and the Saint-Lazare Maladrerie the twelfth century. Built between the late 1920s and early 1930s, the famous Villa Savoye is the work of Le Corbusier. A true masterpiece of modern architecture, it is entirely in reinforced concrete and was built on stilts. Today listed historical monuments and listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, it has undergone major restoration campaigns in the 1980s and 1990s.
After admiring the different sculptures present in the city as the painter Meissonier and Le Corbusier Andrei Tyrtychnikov you can browse through some seventy hectares of green spaces Poissy. Be seduced by Meissonier Park with its English park, its pond, rose garden or a greenhouse, or parks or Villard Arbor. The Seine built are also appreciated in this awarded three flowers common to the competition of cities and flowered villages of France.
The weekly markets are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday morning.
In late May, the Blanche de Castille theater offers its theatrical encounters with a very varied program.
In June, the week that frames the Music Day, Poissy offers its Festiv'été with several concerts of different styles.
The annual flea market is held the last weekend in September.
A Christmas market with entertainment is also proposed in December.
