Located in Brittany, in the heart of the department of Côtes-d'Armor, the town of Plédran takes place just ten kilometers from Saint-Brieuc, not far from the coast of the Channel. Close to Trégueux, Yffiniac or Plaintel, it mixes with harmony wood, countryside and historical remains.
Nicknamed the "green lung" of the agglomeration of Saint-Brieuc, Plédran is a kind of city in the countryside. Populated since the Neolithic, it knows the Gallo-Roman occupation before developing during the Middle Ages. Today, the town has become a tourist Mecca of Côtes-d'Armor, as much for its landscapes as for its historical and architectural heritage.
Plédran is indeed full of sites to discover having crossed the centuries to unveil their mysteries and their history.
Several megalithic constructions take place on the territory of Plédran. Of particular note are the covered path of La Roche Camio and the Margot (menhir) Fuseau classified as Historical Monuments, as well as the covered walkways of Ville Glé and Petit-Chêne, or the menhirs of the Chapelle Bernier, Cross Gloret and Heussard.
While strolling in the neighborhoods, do not miss the protohistoric camp of Péran classified with the Historical Monuments. Rich in glazed walls, it presents an assembly of granite or schistose stones.
Several chapels also take place on the town, and many are now listed as Historical Monuments. Let yourself be seduced by those of Saint-Nicolas de Craffault and Créac'h. The latter, former property of the Knights Templar was restored in the seventeenth century. It houses tombstones classified as Historical Monuments.
In the city, many old houses, mostly private, can be admired from the outside. Enjoy the charms of the Belleville mansions, a 16th century turret building, Pesle Châtel, La Ville Guinvray, La Fontaine Menet, or Craffault Castle, a completely restored 15th century monument.
As you walk around Plédran, you will discover the Saint-Maurice cross. It is located at the former site of the seventeenth century chapel which was the scene of a bloody event during the chouannerie.
Various marked hiking trails pass in or around the town of Plédran. In particular, it is possible to discover the wood that stretches over 130 hectares. It presents, among other things, a sports trail, a botanical trail, games for children, picnic areas, or even beautiful bowling alleys.
The market is held every Saturday morning.
The Fest-Kabar festival mixes Breton culture and West Indian culture in July. The program of the event, concerts and tastings.
In July, the city offers a mini-maritime party organized by the Naval Modeling Club.
In December there is a Christmas market.
