Plailly

Listed as an historic monument, the Saint-Martin church was erected in the second half of the 12th century in an elegant primitive Gothic style. Inscribed in all the innovative movements of the architecture of its time, it was also embellished at the beginning of the 13th century with a new pre-radiating style choir. Its nave is characterized by large broken arches falling on the capitals of isolated cylindrical pillars. Inside, visitors will be able to admire the beautiful 16th century baptismal font decorated with bas-reliefs depicting the Tree of Life or the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan River.

Right in front of the church, on the square, it is possible to discover a very beautiful fountain listed as a Historic Monument and built with stones from the quarries of Montgrésin and plaster from Plailly.

While strolling in the town, do not miss to admire the castle of Bertrandfosse, an early 20th century building in light gray brick, the ruins of the 12th century Montmélian castle, the crossroads of Christ, a crucifix wooden, a Madonna and Child from the early twentieth or the well with the Wolf.

Plailly also has an interesting natural heritage, with in particular the Morrière wood which shelters the Pierre Montconseil surrounded by strewn sandstone blocks or a botanical path of 1800 meters.

The weekly market takes place every Sunday morning.

In September, it's time for the activities of the Peindre Plailly festival, an event dedicated to painting and local artists.
