A former fortified residence from the 14th and 15th centuries, the Château d'Amfreville in Picauville underwent several transformations in the 16th and 18th centuries. Built on the remains of a first building from the 11th century, it benefits from partial registration as a Historic Monument.
Installed on the edge of the marsh, which allows it to benefit from the annual winter floods to fill its moats, the Château d'Amfreville is made up of two platforms, a first surrounded by moats carrying the castle and a second carrying agricultural buildings.. Accessible via an entrance gatehouse, gate tower flanked by two high round towers, it reveals two dwellings in the inner courtyard. A first from the 18th century and a second from the 16th century. The latter consists in particular of a polygonal tower and an old chapel vaulted with warheads from the 14th century, now disused. A dovecote completes the set with outbuildings partly rebuilt in the 20th century.
