Municipality of Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Les Arcs take place near Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Landry, Peisey-Nancroix and Villaroger. A well-known winter sports resort, it is located on the northern slopes of the Vanoise massif.

The station takes its name from the valley of the Arc, nearby. It was born in the course of the 1960s, by the will of Robert Blanc then mountain guide and Roger Godino, developer of tourism development in the mountains. Several villages were built over the years, with Arc 1600 in 1968, Arc 1800 in 1974, Arc 2000 in 1979, and Arc 1950 in 2003. The same year, it joined the ski area of ​​Paradiski with a connection with La Plagne.

Labeled Station Grande Domaine and Station news glide, it remains very popular with lovers of outdoor life and mountain sports because of its modern infrastructure and its special appeal.

Things to see and do

Labeled Heritage of the twentieth century, the resort of Les Arcs has a beautiful architectural heritage. It reveals buildings with a very creative style, mixing modern materials with more traditional equipment such as larch, stone and lauze cladding. You will not miss the Museum of Costume that traces the habits and customs of the region, or the chapel Saint-Grat.

The ski area is the main tourist attraction of the site, including 107 tracks mainly blue and red. There are four stages of slalom, eight play areas and new slides. Since 2010, Les Arcs has offered ten NATUR trails, natural and ungroomed trails, but marked and secured by trackers. In the end it is not less than 68 kilometers that are offered to visitors.

In addition to skiing, tobogganing or snowshoeing in winter, it is possible to learn several activities in summer such as hiking, golf, mountain biking, rafting, white water swimming, step, water aerobics, tree climbing or stretching. The site has many modern and well-equipped facilities.

Do not miss a stroll in the Vanoise National Park to take one of the many marked trails or admire the local flora and fauna. Several natural sites are also to be discovered such as the Plovezan needle, the Prainan needle, the Terrassin needle, the Oeillon neck, the Shawl neck, the Seigne pass, the Frettes pass, the Tondu mountain pass, the Malgovert forest, the Pointe de Beaupré, or the Léchaud point.

Events and festivities

Every year in July, the station Les Arcs proposes the festival of Classical Music of Les Arcs with exceptional concerts.

In December, the station hosts the European Film Festival with meetings, conferences and other screenings of all kinds.
