Small town in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Peyruis takes place on the Durance, about thirty kilometers from Digne-les-Bains. It is located not far from Montfort, Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban and Ganagobie.
Located in the center of the Manosque, Digne, Sisteron triangle, the municipality of Peyruis has always been an important crossing point in the region. Nestled at the foot of wooded hills, it experienced significant growth in the Middle Ages with the construction of a feudal fortress which has now almost entirely disappeared.
Mainly focused on agriculture, Peyruis is part of the scope of two AOCs, including banon, and several PGIs such as Provence honey, Sisteron lamb and spelled. The culture of the olive tree is also very present in the sector which produces an oil benefiting from the AOC olive oil of Provence.
