Cities & towns of Pays de la Loire

Loire-Atlantique

The Loire-Atlantique boasts a wonderful coast, alternating between sandy beaches, wild creeks, rocky coasts and renowned seaside resorts. It also offers visitors a diverse range of other places of interest including Nantes, a City of Art and History combining heritage and dynamism, the famous Guérande salt marshes – a paradise for birds – the canals and delightful thatched cottages of Brière, incredibly picturesque fishing ports and the Nantes vineyards.

Maine-et-Loire

Crossed by the royal river and dotted with numerous châteaux and stately homes, the Maine-et-Loire possesses a rich heritage, both natural and architectural. From the Loire Valley (Val de Loire), a UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting sumptuous buildings all along the river, and the City of Art and History of Angers, particularly famous for its fortress and its medieval tapestry, to the well-known Anjou vineyards and the Saumurois region and its troglodyte sites – Anjou offers visitors a wealth of places of interest!

Mayenne

At the heart of the old province of Maine, at the edge of Anjou and Brittany, the town of Art and History of Laval, the medieval villages of Sainte-Suzanne and Saint-Denis-d'Anjou, the Gallo-Roman town of Jublains, the prehistoric caves of Saulges, the castles of Mayenne, Lassay and Craon, the Évron basilica and the Thévalles watermill are just some of the places that make Mayenne's heritage so rich. The territory of Mayenne also has gentle and restful hilly landscapes, whose attractions make it an ideal place to relax or enjoy outdoor leisure activities...

Sarthe

Our built heritage includes the Plantagenet city of Le Mans, the abbeys of L'Épau and Solesmes, characterful small towns full of picturesque charm, and the Renaissance castles of Le Lude and Courtanvaux. Our natural heritage includes the forests of Bercé, Perseigne and Sillé, dotted with paths and trails for hiking, the Mancelles Alps with their rugged landscapes, popular with fans of outdoor leisure, and the Loir and Sarthe Valleys, full of sights to see. So many marvels to enjoy for a weekend or a longer stay in the Sarthe!

Vendée

Benefiting from an exceptional number of sunshine hours, the Vendée offers a great combination of relaxation, leisure activities and places of interest. Its seaside resorts and its long sandy beaches stretching along the Atlantic coast are all renowned places for relaxation and water sports. Beside these attractions, several islands with an unspoiled heritage, many architecture gems, the Poitou marshes offering boat tours, and the famous Puy du Fou amusement park make the Vendée a popular destination.
