Located in the 1st district of Paris, rue de Rivoli, the Museum of Fashion and Textile is an annex of the Museum of Decorative Arts. Opened in 1905, it is entirely dedicated to the arts of sewing and haute couture.
On two floors, the building traces the evolution of fashion in Europe, from the fourteenth century to the present day. In order not to damage already fragile pieces, the Fashion and Textile Museum organizes temporary thematic exhibitions of six months, thus rotating the collections.
Some of the most beautiful pieces of modern haute couture are also visible on site, with works by Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa, Christian Dior or Chanel and Jeanne Lanvin.
The museum also has a documentation center open to researchers and professionals, but also to lovers of the arts of sewing.
