Museum Galeries du Panthéon Bouddhique

Leisure centre in Paris

Located near the Palais de Tokyo, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the galleries of the Buddhist Pantheon are an annex to the famous Guimet Museum. They take place in the mansion of Alfred Heidelbach, bought by the National Education in the mid-1950s.

Restored in 1991, it houses since then the original collections of the Guimet museum as its founder had designed it on his return from Japan trip. Today, there are more than 250 Japanese and Chinese handicrafts, such as Buddha statues, Hindu deities and Bodhisattvas.

The site also has a beautiful Zen Japanese garden with an area of 450 m². In this unique place of the capital, it is possible to enjoy free access to giant bamboo, water features, wooden bridges or stone slabs. In the early 2000s, a pavilion for the tea ceremony was added in a pure traditional style.
