The National Maritime Museum of Paris is transformed.
It is currently undergoing full renovation, with a reopening scheduled for 2023, with the aim of becoming the maritime museum of the 21st century, by making visitors aware of current questions, while transmitting the taste for Wed. Heir to the historic arsenals rooms, the major collections of Paris and Versailles, and the practical work room of the school of construction engineers, it aims to be the showcase for all navies. At the same time a museum of art, history, sciences and techniques, human adventures and popular traditions, it is one of the oldest maritime museums in the world, with the museum of the Fleet of Saint- Petersburg, because of the size and diversity of its collections.
Established as a network, the National Maritime Museum is also present on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, in Brest (Finistère), Port-Louis (Morbihan), Rochefort (Charentes Maritimes) and Toulon (Var), allowing it to maintain strong links with local maritime cultures, and to promote an active exhibition policy.
Although each site has its own theme linked to the maritime world, they respond to each other in unison to raise public awareness of the current and future challenges of the sea.
Address: Palais de Chaillot - 17 place du Trocadéro.
The museum is closed for renovation. Follow the renovation news on social networks and the website of the National Maritime Museum.
