City of artists located in the Saint-Lambert district, in the heart of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, La Ruche was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the sculptor Alfred Boucher. It then consists of various elements recovered after the closure of the World Expo of 1900, like the entrance gate of the pavilion of women or caryatids flag of Indonesia.
From the beginning, La Ruche was created to welcome young artists without resources and they were many to enjoy as Modigliani, Chagall, Epstein or Zadkine.
In the garden, it is also possible to discover a vast theater of 300 places where began the great Louis Jouvet. Façades and roofs are now listed as Historical Monuments.
Always open, La Ruche hosts sixty workshops but is no longer open to the public.
