La Palette is a coffee shop located at 43 rue de Seine, at the corner of Jacques-Callot Street, in the 6th arrondissement of the capital.
The school was created during the second quarter of the 20th century, initially attended by students of Fine Arts, which are nearby. In this district rich in galleries and artists' studios, La Palette, which is obviously named after this environment, became in the 1930s also popular with renowned painters such as Cézanne, Picasso or Braque. After the Second World War, the establishment consolidates its status as a fashionable cafe and restaurant and celebrity hangout. Ernest Hemingway then Jim Morrison and finally today actors such as Harrison Ford and Julia Roberts and politicians like President Jacques Chirac are loyal customers, especially enjoying the large terrace overlooking rue Jacques-Callot.
The front and interior decoration of its two interior rooms were protected as historical monuments in 1984. In the first room, paintings and palettes were offered by famous clients and artists and in the second, six ceramic panels evoking the daily life of the café and restaurant in the 1930s and 1940s justified this inscription.
The property is private and still commercially exploited but consumers can obviously admire these decorations.
