Located in the 11th district of Paris, Saint-Ambroise Church is a religious building built in the second half of the 19th century. It takes place on the remains of an old building of the mid-seventeenth century.
The current site was built on the plans of the architect Théodore Ballu to whom one owes in particular the basilica Saint-Denys d'Argenteuil. His style is a mix of neogothic, neo-Roman, and neobyzantine, including two slender arrows reminiscent of certain cathedrals. Built in hard stone from the Yonne and the Meuse, as well as rubble, it reveals three beautiful paintings in neobyzantine enamelled lava on the doors of the porch.
In the 1990s, the church was illustrated by hosting 300 undocumented Africans who will be evacuated by force, giving birth to the movement of "undocumented".
