Parfondeval

Parfondeval village was part of the Manor of Rozoy-sur-Serre. It was a lordship of Coucy-Vervins then the Count of Valentinois in the eighteenth century.

Quiet in his campaign, Parfondeval is an agricultural village, and bucolic setting, amidst the cows, corn fields, apple orchards and pastures. The beauty and serenity of its heritage charm many a visitor and will give everyone the illusion of being really in the country.

Parfondeval of dwellings align artistically around the church. You can admire all houses of red brick and slate roofs.

The church of Saint Médard:

The fortified church Saint Médard, dating from the sixteenth century built during the reign of two kings. A remarkable church, the unparalleled architecture.
The church is all red brick and has a beautiful white stone portal Renaissance. Above this portal an arch round arches with jaws supports a round path connecting the two towers. These two towers equipped with deadly defend the entrance and north south sides. A kind of round breakthrough path of a hole was used for discharging projectiles.
This set was surrounded by ditches or moats were filled in 1781, the left tower was demolished for the construction of the aisles in the same year. Turn right heart was shot in 1760 during an overhaul of the church. The tower-dungeon once had the function of protecting the gate. It is framed by two circular towers. If attacked, it was enough to access the porch leading into a nearby house and allowed to take refuge in the church.
Above the hall was a vast room of 49 m², where the population had taken refuge. The modern-style tower is more recent and dates from the eighteenth century (1760).

The Protestant church:

It dates from the nineteenth century and was built in 1858 by Jules Touchart, architect of Laon.
History bell: Since May 9, 1928, evangelical temple Parfondeval has a bell that serves no purpose. Here is his inscription: "To the glory of God and in memory of his beloved sister Mary Barton-Paxton." This bell is available at the Church of Parfondeval Katharine Rubert-Paxton. In 1827: Fondue by the son of G. Paccard in Annecy. This event for the Evangelical Temple did not result in any ceremony. The donor came in August 1928 to see if his gift was executed. Mary Paxon, a Canadian nurse and sister of the donor died in France during the war.
