Things to see and do

The town offers visitors and curious love story a journey through time: still present and visible walls in the old center of the village recalls the presence of lords and viscounts installed since medieval times about the town. The castle of the town, transformed into guest rooms, is also a valuable relic. The surprisingly well-preserved church is dedicated to Santa Eugenia. It is a Romanesque building from the twelfth century, a nave with a semicircular apse decorated internally and externally big blind arches. It houses a baroque altarpiece of the eighteenth century and a large Christ of the sixteenth century polychrome cardboard. The visit of the former center for understanding the construction of the village around its ramparts and admire the architectural prowess of the ancient in construction. The steep streets, narrow, allow visitors to enjoy the tranquility of the village, crossed by an irrigation canal irrigating the fertile lands of the town, who gave the name to the town of Ortaffa, Horts in Catalan. Throughout the walk, visitors will discover a village in harmony with nature, all near downtown, since within 3 km is the river Tech, fishing location and stroll along the water surrounded of protected trees and saved.

In addition to its heritage assets, the town offers a range of modern games that welcomes young and old, who can make it a relaxing stop.

Events and festivities

The village feast is celebrated on two days during the 2nd weekend of September... All Ortaffanéncs gather around a meal and musical entertainment mingling Catalan folklore and current varieties... A traditional Mass is celebrated on the Sunday morning.
