Paris-based airport located ten kilometers from Paris, in the municipalities of Orly, Villeneuve-le-Roi, Paray-Vieille-Poste, Wissous, Athis-Mons, Chilly-Mazarin and Morangis, the airport of Paris - Orly is the second airport platform of France behind Roissy - Charles-de-Gaulle.
Inaugurated in the early 20th century as a simple aerodrome, the site developed with the First World War, becoming a military base. It was not until the late 1940s that the airport of Paris - Orly took a function of tourism and leisure.
Composed of two main terminals, the South terminal and the West terminal, it also has a freight terminal and a maintenance area. It is now managed by the Aéroports de Paris group.
Welcoming more than thirty million passengers each year, the airport of Paris - Orly serves mainly the interior lines, as well as DOM-TOM, Cuba, Russia, Iceland, Turkey, or most of the big European cities.
The site now houses the Maison de l'Environnement, a place of information and documentation for the general public. It allows you to discover the history of the airport, exhibitions on the environment and the control of nuisances due to air traffic, or explanations of the procedures of air traffic.
