Located in the heart of Orange, in the Vaucluse department, Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth Cathedral is a 13th century religious building classified as a Historic Monument since the 1920s. Consecrated in 1208 under the presence of Guillaume des Baux, it also served at the time as a meeting place for the general assemblies of the Principality.
Reworked many times over the centuries, it was notably sacked by the Huguenots in the middle of the 16th century before being rebuilt in the 17th century. It was also restored in the 18th century under the leadership of Monseigneur du Tillet, the last bishop of Orange. Having become a temple of the goddess Reason during the French Revolution, it subsequently returned to Catholic worship, seeing the arrival of new frescoes, stained glass windows and a neo-classical style portal in the 19th century.
Inside, it is possible to discover seven side chapels dedicated to Saint Eutrope, the Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph, Saint Anthony of Padua, the Virgin Mary, Saint Anne, and the Blessed Martyrs of Orange.
