This 13th century castle was built on a rock at an altitude of 640 m. The site is a rocky spur ; the castle there is little left on the north, one can see the stump déparementé dungeon that protected the house in a row. Between the gap between the site of the Mountain Grand Ringelsberg and keep extending the barnyard. A flanked by a semi- circular bastion walls were added later. The construction is typical of the early 13th century in view of the site and the plan of the whole. The castle was built by the family of Hohenstein ; Bishop of Strasbourg is one of the owners at the end of the 13th century. Bishop Berthold Bucheck is held prisoner there in 1337 by Rodolphe Hohenstein ; his release in 1338, he took the castle no more rise from its ruins.
