Located in the department of Pas-de-Calais, Noyelles-Godault is an old mining and industrial town, located 5 km from Hénin-Beaumont and 15 minutes from the cities of Lens, Douai and Arras.
The town is part of the Urban Community Henin-Carvin which gathers 14 communes: Bois-Bernard, Carvin, Courcelles-lès-Lens, Courrières, Dourges, Drocourt, Evin-Malmaison, Hénin-Beaumont, Leforest Libercourt, Montigny en-Gohelle, Noyelles-Godault, Oignies and Rouvroy.
Remains found on the territory of the city confirm that Noyelles-Godault was occupied from the Palaeolithic, or 30 000 to 40 000 years BC. J.-C.
