Created in 1959, the Marine Museum of Nice takes place in a large circular room of the Belanda Tower which was once part of the citadel's defense system. It reveals to its visitors collections belonging to the National Maritime Museum and traces the maritime tradition of the Eastern Mediterranean as well as the local history of the city.
On the heights of the Baie des Anges, it presents models of chébecs and galleys, engravings and old documents. Art lovers will also appreciate the Entry of Napoleon III into Genoa by Gudin, the ship models of the Levant fleet, navigation instruments, old weapons and even the watercolors of Antoine Roux.
