Located in the department of Corrèze, the arboretum of the castle of Neuvic Ussel extends over 6.5 hectares, on the borders of the Auvergne. This agricultural landscape park was created in the first half of the 19th century, in 1815, in the tradition of English parks.
Open to the public since 2007, the site offers a wide variety of landscapes to discover the time of two kilometers of grassy paths. This is the opportunity to discover more than 350 plant species in this area labeled Jardin Remarkable.
The program includes a forty-meter-long European larch, a thirty-six-meter Virginia tulip tree or a forty-meter giant sequoia. In 2011, a parish garden was set up near the Saint-Guillaume chapel. It consists of ten squares of vegetables, as well as a bed of simple and aromatic herbs.
The arboretum of Ussel's Neuvic castle is open every day in July and August, for the Rendez-vous du jardin in the spring, and during the European Heritage Days. Groups can visit by appointment.
