Small town in Vaucluse, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Mornas takes place forty kilometers from Avignon and its papal palace. It is located near Orange, Rochegude and Bollène, at the limit of the Gard department.
Built at the foot of a steep rock, the common Mornas is cited in history books as early as the ninth century as the Morenatuso. Ownership of the counts of Toulouse in the twelfth century and later joined the Holy See land along all the Venaissin County. It is sadly illustrated during the religious wars in the sixteenth century, including the pertuisanades who saw the killing of many innocent people.
Former center of the tobacco in the seventeenth century culture Mornas is now a top tourist attraction in the Vaucluse with its important cultural heritage and its production of wines labeled wine country of the Principality of Orange.
