Montmérac

Built in the sixteenth century and remodeled in the late nineteenth, Castle Montchaude this incredible northern facade with stone opening frames of Jonzac. A true Renaissance gem, the building reveals a two pavilions building flanked a garden, a park and a beautiful terrace. Passing through the old town, be sure not to admire Saint-Cybard church of the late nineteenth century and the chapel Saint-Mathurin.

Former priory of Benedictine, St. Saturninus Lamérac church dates from the twelfth century. Restored in the nineteenth century, it has a typical architecture of this part of Charente. Passing through the old town, be sure not to walk to the pond of Vergne who can swim from early June to late August.

Several marked hiking trails are available in and around the town.

In July, the town offers a craft night market with local producers.

In May, up to the party of the rose with its fair flowers, craft show his or her sale of regional products.
