- Montjaux is a town located in the southern department of Aveyron, 9 km north of Saint-Rome-de-Tarn. Its territory extends entirely in the Regional Natural Park of Causses. Clinging to the south side of the tray Lévézou, all composed two highly contrasting identities. Right bank of the Muse: Lévézou. Left bank of the Muse: Causse Rouge.
- Montjaux comes from the Latin "Mont Jovis." A temple dedicated to the worship of Jupiter existed at the top of this mountain, which later brought the original castle.
- The common Montjaux is composed of four main villages: Montjaux, Marzials, Candas and Roquetaillade, and several hamlets Cancoules, Candadès, Saint Hippolyte ... Each village has a strong identity:
- Montjaux, located on the road from Rodez to Saint-Afrique, is the most populated village and the highest on the neck by passing the valley of the Muse Viala du Tarn.
- Marzials fortified village halfway up the slope on the right bank of the Muse is still very natural with big sandstone houses. It is particularly animated summer.
- Roquetaillade the edge of the Muse sees his dwellings distributed along a street leading from the bridge over the small castle Muse Roquetaillade.
- Candas, on the banks of the Tarn, is a village composed of fairly large "districts" distinct and surrounded by vineyards exploited. Its near Millau (15 km) makes it especially attractive to Millau moving away from the city.
- Each village has its church to which we can add Roquegel chapel and the old pre-Romanesque church of St. Martin Ayguebonne.
