Montier-en-Der was destroyed in June 1940 and rebuilt with pleasant public gardens such as the Napoleon garden. Montier-en-Der owes its origin to the monastery settled in the Middle Ages by the Benedictines on the banks of the Voire. The monks cleared this place covered with oak. There remained of their presence, an old abbey St. Peter, St Paul. The church of Notre-Dame, after many inconveniences, was beautifully restored, the huge nave and the superb choir are worth a visit.
The Haras, located on the site of the old abbey, contains about forty horses, a very interesting visit is possible, ask for the days and the schedules.
Formerly there were races that attracted large and small.
The ancient and gastronomic traditions were soup with cabbage or potée. The waffles, made with the big waffle maker with 5 hearts, placed on the stove in the fire. The andouillette of Troyes and the bugnes.
