Small town of Loir-et-Cher, in Loire Valley Centre, Mont-près-Chambord is located about ten kilometers from the city of Blois. Bordering Chambord and its famous castle, the town is popular with visitors for its calm and its geographical location.
Once called Montes Bonomies the twelfth century, the town of Mont-près-Chambord took its current name since 1918. The common story is sadly marred by a tragic event. In August 1944, the old village has indeed experienced a massacre orchestrated by the Germans already responsible horrors of Oradour-sur-Glane.
Today Mont-près-Chambord tastes reveals a newfound tranquility and pleasant scenery. The small town is also known for being the first wine producer of AOC AOC Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny. Its proximity to the castles of the Loire as Cheverny, Blois and Chambord also attracts many visitors.
