Things to see and do

Listed as an historic monument, the church of Notre-Dame de Molesmes is not lacking in charm. Built in the 15th century with stones from the underground quarries of the town, it also has a classified portal.

It is also listed as a historical monument, and the Saint-Martin de Taingy church is worth a visit. It reveals a typical architecture of the region. On the hamlet of Aubigny, you can also discover a place that traces the great history of the town, the underground quarry of limestone which was used in particular for the construction of the opera Garnier. You will be able to admire more than sixteen rooms open to the public, and attend many stone-cutting demonstration workshops for example. You can also admire some species of bats present on the site or discover the incredible Escalier de l'Ascension. Realized in about ten years by sixty companions of the Compagnonnique Union of the United Duties, it is nine meters high and four meters in diameter and required twenty-five tons of carved and cut stones.

If you want to enjoy the local fauna and flora, you can take the various hiking trails around or browse the wood of Mesles.
