This church is one of the oldest in France but also the oldest of Moissac. It was built on an old Gallo-Roman villa, more exactly on the hypocaust of this villa. Saint-Martin was classified a historical monument in 1922. Excavation campaigns are undertaken regularly to deepen the knowledge of this building. The 15th century southern chapel houses the remains of a magnificent set of murals dating from the late 15th / early 16th centuries, which allowed the classification to the Historical Monuments.
Although being an area of archaeological excavations and therefore not equipped for the reception of the public, the Heritage Service proposes regular guided tours (inquire with the Heritage Service).
Price of guided tours: 4 € full price, 2 € reduced price, free for children under 12 years.
